The trail between Fort Pelly and the upper Shell River country in Manitoba crossed near this site. Developed in the early 19th century by indians trading at Fort Pelly, it later served surveyors, loggers, and local settlers. A northern branch of the trail connected Fort Pelly with Madge Lake.
