Details
Near the middle of the nineteenth century this trail linked Fort Pelly with Fort QuAppelle. For almost half a century the trail was the only overland route between the two. For a generation, along this trail, the brigades of noisy Red River carts were a common sight.
During the seventies the trail was used as a regular patrol route of the North West Mounted Police.
From the early eighties until the development of the first roads it was the main thoroughfare for the pioneers and early settlers who homesteaded along it's route.
